An Interview With The Atlantis Dubai - Aquaventure: Now The Worlds Biggest Waterpark !
This month we speak to Sascha Triemer, the Vice President Marine & Waterpark at Atlantis about their latest expansion of Aquaventure - now the World's Biggest Water Park.
Hi Sasha, give us a general overview of the Aquaventure water park extension. Is it true that this extension makes you the world's largest water park?
With the launch of Trident Tower, Splashers Lagoon and Splashers Cove on 1st March – the biggest waterpark expansion in history – Atlantis Aquaventure is officially one of the biggest and best waterparks in the world.
Trident Tower, our newest and tallest at 48 metres, is home to 12 record-breaking slides and attractions, some of which cannot be found anywhere else globally. In addition, Splashers Lagoon and Splashers Cove, along with Splashers Island and Mountain, form the biggest kid’s only waterpark experience in the Middle East, with 16 new slides and attractions.
What was the selection process of the new slides and attractions?
We have a fantastic partnership with ProSlide and worked closely with them to develop the most iconic and high-performing water slides.
Our Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Tim Kelly, was very involved in the brainstorming process and drove the vision of creating never-before-seen attractions, not only in the Middle East, but globally.
Tell us about the new slides and recently added attractions. What makes them stand out?
Trident Tower features some of the most thrilling waterslides in the world. Odyssey of Terror is the world’s tallest water slide of its kind with a Double Tornado WAVE®, and Shockwave is the longest family rafting water coaster in the world using BLAST™ propulsion. We also have Medusa’s Lair, the first and longest duelling slide in the region, as well as Blackout, the tallest vertical drop body slide in the Middle East, and Hydra Racers where four racers can challenge one another to be the first to the bottom of the tower.
In addition to the new slides at Trident Tower, we have also added Immortal Falls, the first cliff jumping experience in the region, as well as Raging Rapids, where guests can experience a number of roaring water elements while traveling around the waterpark.
What influenced the decision to expand an already large water park?
We always focus on customer needs and demands, and constantly evolve to ensure that each and every experience is unique, with all our visitors making memories that last a lifetime. With Atlantis, The Royal underway, we had a unique opportunity to connect the space between the two hotels, resulting in one of the largest integrated resorts in the world. It just made sense to expand Atlantis Aquaventure and evolve it into an even more spectacular waterpark.
Do you have further expansion plans in mind?
As part of the Trident Tower expansion, Atlantis Aquaventure is now on a journey of innovation, so that every time guests visit the waterpark there will be something new and exciting to experience. Our ultimate vision is to become the largest aquatic theme park in the world, and we have a plan in place to get there towards the end of 2021. The sky is the limit as we look to the future of Aquaventure.
